Julien started very young as a musician: singing in choirs, and then studying percussion, first in the Toulon National Conservatory (France), and some years later he entered the Music Academy “Prince Rainier III” in Monaco, where he graduated in 2007 with the highest mark. The year after he wrote and acted in a musical show about dreams and Latin-America.

In 2012 he finished his bachelors studies at the Superior Music School of Catalonia (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, Esmuc) with Miquel Bernat, Lorenzo Ferrándiz, Grati Murcia, Georges-Élie Octors and Pedro Estevan (for early music).
He then studied a master at Rotterdam Conservatory (Codarts) with Chris Leenders, Hans Leenders, Tatiana Koleva, René Spiering and Murk Jiskoot, where he researched on contemporary music interpretation.

Besides from studying in different European countries, Julien has been on an exchange to the National Music School of the city of Mexico, thanks to a scholarship from the “Fondation Turquois” in Monaco; and in 2009 and 2010, he took part in the Aspen Music Festival and School (USA, CO.), with a scholarship from the “Fondation Princesse Grace“.
He won a third prize in the Italy PAS Competition in the vibraphone speciality and was finalist at both Ça percute à… competition (Cannes, Fr.) and Córdoba University “ConUCo” vibraphone competition (Córdoba, Sp.).

As a soloist, he has played with the “Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo”, Royal Conservatory of Brussels Orchestra, and “L’Orchestre régional de Cannes”, with whom he premiered the “Magelan Concerto” by Emmanuel Séjourné, in the finals of “Ça percute à…” percussion competition.
He regularly plays in youth orchestras from different countries, as well as professional orchestras in Barcelona, Monaco and Cannes.
He has played in different contemporary music ensembles such as Nou Ensemble (Mallorca-Spain), C barré (France) and New Music Ensemble (Rotterdam), NJO Steve Reich Ensemble, Proyecto Xenakis (Madrid) and New Music Ensemble. This reflects his motivation to participate in contemporary creation, although he is also interested in Early music, Argentinian Tango, Electronic music, Afro-American music. He has a special interest in the non-musical aspects of music as shows his “final project” at Barcelona, for which he designed his own performance based on different kinds of music-theater.
